Bazaar

Thank you so much to all those who donated baked goods as well as handmade crafts and other food items. The Crafts and Pastries booths are not all ABWA booths per se, but since we organize them, we are very grateful to our very talented members and non-members who so graciously donate their wonderful items to us! Many of the items sold out quickly, and so many people were already talking about coming back next year for more!! Please accept our apologies if your name was not included on the list. We always try to catch all the donors, even if they haven’t signed the clipboard. Sorry if we missed you!

Obon

Many thanks to Toban Group #1 for providing light refreshments following the afternoon service. Since our Obon service is held in the afternoon after a festive night of dancing, it is always nice to have the delicious cake as a mid-afternoon treat!

Clothing Drive

We are grateful to all those who volunteered to help with the drop-off shifts. Thank you to: Gayle Okada, Tsueko Muraca, Susan Hiraki, Wayne Nakano, Amy Tomine, Satoko Miyamoto, Yumi Yasuda, Vickie Hashimoto, Karen Fong, and Lenni Terao-Doerr. 

Because of a glitch in the delivery date scheduling, as of this writing, the clothing donations have not yet been delivered. However, we hope to have a caravan of our private vehicles delivering to Savers in Alameda on our rescheduled date of Sept. 2. Thank you in advance to our flexible volunteers: Gary Takeda, Howard Shintani, Doug Doerr, Kathy Fong, Kathy Lilienstein, Jacqui Yamaoka, Tom Hashimoto, Karen Fong and Lenni Terao-Doerr. A special thanks to Jackie Ito-Woo for volunteering to help prepare bag lunches for our delivery crew, and to Karen Fong for being our liaison with Savers. It wasn’t an easy task this year! And of course, ARIGATO! to all who donated so many bags, boxes and suitcases of soft goods! A portion of the proceeds will go to the Alameda Point Collaborative, a non-profit organization that assists the homeless with housing, job training and other services.
