23 Jun Temple Preservation Project

As stewards of this historic property, we are committed to maintaining the Temple as a place for worship, learning, and community. To support that effort, the Buddhist Temple of Alameda is beginning a major project to replace the aging knob-and-tube wiring in the main Temple building.
The existing electrical system has reached the end of its useful life and must be upgraded to meet current electrical codes, safety standards, operating needs, and insurance requirements. The project will include electrical upgrades throughout the building, including the basement, Hondo, Onaijin, classrooms, office, and restroom areas. All work will be performed by a licensed electrical contractor and completed with the required City of Alameda permits and inspections.
The total cost of the project is currently estimated to exceed $100,000. The Temple Board is actively evaluating funding options and will provide updates as the project progresses.
Donations to support this and other Temple preservation projects are always welcome and greatly appreciated.
